For this I need your whole-hearted and honest opinion, and I want you to take this seriously because it's not a laughing matter. Please take the time to read this. It would mean a lot to me.
Everyone at some point has heard of demonic possession. Some think it's a load of bullshit, others aren't sure what to think and some believe that this phenomenom can actually happen to people. I'll leave your decision of your belief up to you.
Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD). I guarantee you've heard of this and if not I'll tell you what it is in a nutshell. Basically when someone is diagnosed with MPD this is when other personalities, feelings and emotions are put into the same person but with very strange results. Because these other personalities don't match up to how the person normally is, these are then classed as totally different 'people'. These personalities can vary from a range as little as 5 to a max of over 100, and can include absolutely anything.
For example, one personality can be a totally different person. They may speak with a different voice tone, in another language, have a different sexuality, gender, age and even religious belief. And in some cases, may not recognise close family and friends. Because of this strange behaviour happening to someone this is often confused with demonic possession. As are other psychotic disorders of the mind such as Schizoprenia and Tourette's Syndrome. MPD is probably the most common to be confused with possession because of how the person acts with their 'other personality'.
It is true that in past centuries mentally ill people were subjected to difficult exorcisms and the results were poor. It can be rightly argued that those people were done a great disservice and their mental diseases became much worse as a result and vice versa: people who are being demonized are given antipsychotic medication in an attempt to cure a condition that doesn't exist. So what really should be done?
Now comes my story. A close friend of mine (not mentioning names) was diagnosed with MPD on 14th June 1996 - shortly after her 6th birthday. She suffered numerous changes to her personality in the first few years before being diagnosed and the results were 3 other personalities, that made my friend not even recognise her parents or any of her family. But now, my friend is 18 soon to be 19 and she still suffers these changes. Here are the ones I know so far:
Personality 1 claims to be a young girl named Anna aged 7 who 'just needs a friend'.
Personality 2 claims to be a young Russian woman named Larissa. She was apparently drowned by her husband in the 18th century and her body was then burned.
Personality 3 doesn't have a name and can't speak at all, but it makes my friend extremely sick and she is constantly vomiting and shaking saying this personality is making her see floating lights.
Personality 4 says it's called Ulan (which sounds more male to me) and in some way is related to the events of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre in the 1970s.
The next personality is the one that is making me question my very own belief is demonic sprits and possession. After a violent fit of anger and what looked like epilepsy, she was taking to her therapist and he used some form of trick hypnosis to coax this personality out.
The result is exactly what I thought it would be. This one calls itself Ikval and claims to be a demon. What's more is that my friend has no self control when this Ikval has her and she attacks anyone who goes too close. She doesn't recognise anyone at all, she swears, spits, lashes out, starts to speak in a different language that's not Lithuanian, her skin goes pale and her eyes change color.
If you think that's a load of crap then go ahead and think that. But there's no way that I will stand by and watch helplessly as this Ikval makes my friend hurt herself over and over. It never used to happen but recently it's got more common and it's beginning to frighten me more than anything else. Last week I find her sitting in the bathroom being 'forced' by Ikval to take an overdose. She had to be revived and taken to hospital. What could I do? Nothing.
Still every doctor and therapist sit there and say this is just another personality but a more violent one. When I think that is bullshit. There's no way another personality could want to make someone do something like that because that personality wouldn't have anyone to host in. There's got to be some sort of other explanation, and this has led me to believe my friend is possibly demonically possessed.
